NatWest Volunteering Weekend

Ashford Rugby Club is delighted to be taking part in NatWest RugbyForce, a nationwide programme developed in partnership with the Rugby Football Union, which aims to help community rugby clubs become stronger businesses. A key element is the support provided by volunteers to the success of this initiative.

We submitted an application for a small grant (£500) that could enhance what we as a club were planning to do, and I’m delighted to say we were successful.

The NatWest RugbyForce Weekend on 22rd & 23rd June is an opportunity for all club members and the local community to come together for a weekend of DIY to make a real difference. Our aim is to transform the main clubhouse area, making it a brighter, more welcoming space for all. We plan to take down existing wall display material, make good any damage, and refresh with a new coat of paint before hanging the new display material.

The funding will allow us to cover a number of material costs, but the success of the weekend will be down to the efforts of our volunteers. We are looking for anyone who can spare some time on either the 22nd or 23rd June, or on both days. We would welcome in particular those with good DIY skills, or with a background in carpentry, plumbing, electrics or building work. However the main ingredient will be your enthusiasm. We will be posting soon a form on the Ashford RFC website in which you can register your availabilities and the skills/experience you can offer.

For those who take part, there will be a NatWest RugbyForce T-shirt, a memento photograph of the volunteers team, and your name will be entered for the draw for a bottle of bubbly.
